Expanding the pioneering sectors of
renewable energy and energy efficiency

“One important component of our philosophy is to think in the long term. This applies both to relations with exhibiting companies whose trade fair activities we support as well as the fair organisers who put their trust in us as German representatives. Furthermore, we also consider it to be equally important to look for new projects in pioneering branches of industry."
Christian Mösch, Renewable Energies business division

In the past few years, the fields of renewable energies and energy efficiency have increasingly become the focus of attention. Firstly, this is paving the way for safeguarding the supply of energy for future generations, and secondly, for German companies in particular, this provides considerable potential for sales in a variety of markets throughout the world. Technology and know-how “Made in Germany” set standards when it comes to developing and utilising regenerative energy sources.

For the Renewable Energy Exhibition 2010 in Paris, with 26 first-time exhibitors from Germany alone, ecm-berlin was able to play its part in the fair managing to establish a new record in terms of exhibitor numbers when its doors finally closed. With the event organiser GL events, a global player in the field of trade fairs and event services, ecm-berlin has forged a successful working relationship stretching over several years. In taking over the German representation for the Renewable Energy Exhibition Beirut 2010, the next stage of this expansion has already been initiated.

In the ASEAN region, ecm-berlin is increasing its commitment by taking over the German representation for PowerTrends 2011 in Manila, Philippines. This fair also forms part of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology's export initiative for renewable energies.

Water management – An industry of the future

India is one of the world’s largest and most attractive markets for water management. ecm-berlin has been working for India's biggest trade fair in this sector, Everything About Water Expo, since July 2009. For the forthcoming fair in January 2011, the VDMA fittings association has entrusted ecm-berlin with organising the first joint German stand. This takes place outside the country’s official overseas trade fair programme and will meet the increasing needs of German companies.

Since 2008, leading water experts from politics, science and industry throughout the world have been meeting each year in Singapore at the Singapore International Water Week (SIWW). This comprises the Water Leaders Summit, Water Convention, Water Expo and numerous business forums. ecm-berlin has been the German representative since its inception and this year, it organised a German pavilion for the very first time. The SIWW was able to set a new record with over 14,000 trade visitors, eight country pavilions and more than 500 exhibitors.

To all corners of the world for government contracts

Bolivia is one of the next destinations that the ecm-berlin team will be heading for on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Economics. Having successfully completed two government participations in Sydney and London, Santa Cruz is on the agenda for the coming year. Here, Germany traditionally participates in the EXPOCRUZ with an information booth, which is supervised by ecm-berlin throughout the 10-day duration of the fair.

Broad portfolio demonstrated by
“Path of Innovation” PR project

Just how broadly based ecm-berlin’s portfolio and projects are is underscored by the “Path of Innovation” project, which formed part of the ILA Berlin Air Show 2010.

On behalf of the German Aerospace Industries Association (BDLI), ecm-berlin was, for the first time, organising an online platform for one of the industry’s main topics of current interest.

Long before the fair had even begun, participating ILA exhibitors who have developed sustainable innovations in consideration of environmental aspects were introducing themselves on this platform. And the result was remarkable: this internet microsite was able to attract approximately 4,000 visitors.

FIDAE defied the effects of the earthquake

With a fundraising campaign, the ecm project team gave the FIDAE Chile, International Air & Space Fair, a clear indication of its intent. Although the severe earthquake in February caused little damage in the capital city of Santiago de Chile, the location of the FIDAE event, the effects could be seen everywhere. It was quickly decided that the traditional exhibitor party staged by ecm should be cancelled and the budget donated to the victims of the earthquake. What surely benefited the country even more was the fact that the FIDAE went ahead as planned – the international community of exhibitors showed great solidarity and there were hardly any cancellations at all because of the earthquake.
